Thesis resume

The study of the degradation process in the interfaces of composite structures has received major attention in recent years from scientific community . These composite structures play a crucial role in several engineering fields and study of the evolution of micro-cracks and damage in their interfaces is an unavoidable question. The study of solid interfaces is well developed in the literature and recognized a crucial subject in the mechanics of material because the adhesive layer is generally very thin and not rigid when compared to the characteristic dimensions of the structure, such things makes its study difficult. In general, several factors can be taken into account for the modeling of the evolution of damage in the interface like adhesion, nonconforming contact, friction and unilateral contact etc. In this thesis, the idea is to introduce an interface model including non-local damage in one hand and on other hand stochastic and random effects. In first step, we are interested in study of deterministic damaged models. Here we are investigating the damage in an adhesive at microscopic level. Adhesive is considered as Kachanov’s type material and average crack length is interpreted as a damage parameter. A general approach is proposed, the idea is to put forward a general methodology which enable us to derive, in the nonlocal case. By a technique of homogenization and using thermodynamics considerations with nonlocal damaged, mechanical model of composite structure made by isotopic material has been proposed. Two different regimes have been considered, one for traction and one for compression. Imperfect interface model is derived from the damage mechanical model proposed initially by using the matching asymptotic expansions method and by using hypothesis of perfect bonding conditions between the adherents and the adhesive. Further, we discussed two cases according to dependency of damage evolution along the interphase’s thickness. One numerical example has been proposed. In a second step, we are interested in the introduction of stochasticity in our study. It is well known that the local evolution of micro-cracks is very complex to model due to their little known distribution but also because various types of uncontrollable phenomena come into play such as microscopic fluctuations or even the effects of interaction between the scales. One way to take into account this poor local knowledge may be to introduce stochastic and random effects and such our choice turned to the use of stochastic partial differential equations (PDE) with random data. In this thesis, we decided to introduce these effects by using stochastic forcing in the sense of Itô and use of random data. More precisely, we perturbed Itô integral form certain PDE (the Barenblatt equation) well known in deterministic among other for modeling the phenomena of irreversible phase transition (problems of porous media type). In addition, the evolution of damage in the interface is one kind of phase transition, therefore, such models can be considered as evolution of damage in the adhesive with dimensionless coefficients. In this study we are interested in a result of existence and uniqueness of solution in the stochastic case by applying fine techniques of functional analysis for PDE. This allowed us to familiarize ourselves with tools of PDE analysis (time discretization, fixed point method, monotonic operators ...) as well as with stochastic calculations necessary for the management of random terms. Moreover, we also took into account temperature effects by studying the coupling of this Barenblatt equation with a stochastic heat equation.
